Wordless Wednesday

The count down is on - in a short 25 hours or so hopefully we'll know if Baby Graves will arrive in pink or blue - can't wait for the ultrasound tomorrow!!!

Here's a shot of Riley's pics from a short 3.5 years ago - sigh - how time flies!!!

Check out more Wordless Wednesday posts here or here (some of which might actually be wordless hahaha).

We're Home

We're Back - but man was it hard to come home. We left the "happiest place on earth" where the weather was warm, we had no set schedule to attend to and well we got to spend 24/7 as a family, which was awesome. It is nice to be back, really it is, but I'm thinking a few more days in Disney World would have been ok too.
Our trip was awesome, aside from a couple of skinned knees, we are happy to report we had no other injuries while we were gone and I'm also fairly certain that Riley's arm is completely healed. We will still have to follow up with her pediatrician in another week or so to do some more x-rays to confirm everything is all healed up - but as a Mama, you can just tell, and my girl is A-Ok!!!
We were at Disney for 7 days, and I'm fairly certain we didn't even see half of it - we definitely hit the highlights, but there is just soooo much to do and see that I think you could be there a month and not see it all! Riley loved pretty much everything about it - the rides, the people, the stores that had lots and lots of dress-up clothes and "stuff" to buy, the crazy hats, the shows (well all but the 3D Honey I Shrunk the Kids one which we left early), the pool, and the list could go on and on - she just loved being in Disney - oh yeah, she also didn't like Pluto, at all, seriously crying, fussing, trying to leave restaurants, it was crazy but that's really the last thing that she didn't like.
There are so many stories to tell - so many pictures to share (400-ish I think, none of which are downloaded yet), so today will just be a teaser - here are the funniest things that I remember Riley saying while we were there!!
1. After picking up our rental car - "Why do we have to borrow a car - could they not fit ours on the airplane?" (yes we ended up with a van, which was actually pretty awesome since we had loads of room and only paid for an economy sized car!)
2. Riley, you have some chicken crumbs on your shirt.........."Don't worry they have a bathtub here somewhere."

3. After pulling in to Disney World but still driving around "When are we going to be in Disney Worrrrrlllllldddddd?" - the whole waiting thing was very difficult, Riley thought it would be all right there and had no idea that things were far apart!!

4. "Mommy, I hate being the last in line" (with a big pout and a lower lip sticking wayyyy out)

5. "Disney world is HUUGGEEEE"
6. "Mommy why are all the potties stinky?" I don't know sweetie - do they all smell bad? Remember Mommy's nose doesn't work very well so I can't smell them. "Yes mommy, they are all stinky. Did the boys come poopoo in all the potties?" **And she was serious as could be and wasn't very happy that I couldn't hold back my chuckle.

7. I asked Joey to hop out of bed so we could go somewhere and Riley said "Mommy he can't hop out o fbed or he would fall" **I think she's learned her lesson about jumping on the bed
8. "Mama we saw the space shuttle that took people to real outer space"

9. After playing with a girl for about 2 minutes in the pool, we were walking to the restroom and Riley said "I sure do like her, I'm going to invite her to my next birthday party, when we get back I'll ask her her name."
10. Disney world is awesome and has short sinks nearly every where that are the perfect size for kiddos - they even have their own soap dispenser and usually a paper towel thingy too. When we walked into one bathroom I said oh Riley look they have a little sink too. "Mommy, it's a medium sink because I'm not small I'm medium."

11. And last but not least - when we were sitting in the airport getting ready to come home, just watching people and the airplanes (and vegging because we had gotten up at 4:30am which felt like 3:30 am our time) and Riley looks at us and says "I really hate it when you treat me like a baby." Speechless is what we were!

Off to Disney with a Buckle Fracture

Yeah - we will be flying to Disney World in a matter of hours - I'm so ready to get away and to be somewhere that's warm for 7 days in a row (in MO, we have a warm day here or there, followed by one in the 30's -yeah it's confusing).

Anyway - I didn't update you guys, but Friday night we headed to the ER around 7:30. Riley tripped over a suitcase and fell, didn't try to catch herself but said her arm was hurting - up higher this time - and that she needed to see a dr. When your baby says they "need" a doctor your mommy instincts say ok, especially when you are going out of town, you just don't have any other options.

Well another 4 xrays later and not getting home until midnight (there's seriously nothing fast about the ER we learned) we learn she just has "Just a sprain" and to take it easy - whew, they checked her whole arm over so we are good.

Fast forward to Sunday night around 7:30PM (yeah that's the night time one) when we are packing to leave, and my princess is running around crazy because she is so excited about leaving for Disney World in 12 hrs - and a doctor from the hospital calls - and they think they might see a greenstick fracture on her arm.............seriously.................yikes...............and he asks how Riley is doing................totally improving in my opinion, but still favoring it................so not an emergency but follow up with our regular doc for some more views to be sure. Since we are leaving for Disney though - you guessed it - come back to the ER to be sure.

Sigh, 4 more xrays and the bravest girl ever - and not getting home until 12:45 this time (yeah on the night before we leave to Disney) we do have a fracture - a buckle fracture which I can totally see why they were uncertain because boy it was tiny on the xray. Put my sweetie in a splint, no crazy bumpy rides or rough housing - and in a couple of weeks it will heal itself.

I'm so glad they checked it out, that's awesome that they called us back in, how cool is that. Just continue to pray guys!!! Hugs to you all!

Update on Riley - God is Good

So I called the pediatrician today, mainly to appease Joey, because I really thought Riley was fine, sore, but fine, and they wanted to see her. This made her mama stress just a tad because I had spent the entire day telling myself she was ok, and truly believing it.

Well...................4 x-rays later, and an awesomely brave little girl who only shed a couple of tears when Mommy had to leave the x-ray room because her super, brave, awesome Daddy was right there holding her, we have a sprained arm. I was a little worried when she wasn't able to do one thing the doctor wanted her too, but all is well and now we know with pretty good certainty - she is fine, still a bit sore, but she has a new princess phone and got to eat at McDonald's for supper so all that helped a little too.

Thanks to everyone out there who was praying for our sweetie - God is good!!

So Sad :(

You know how as parents, sometimes you let your kids do things you know they shouldn't, but you put "rules" or "restrictions" so maybe it seems more ok? Like jumping on the bed, I know that it's silly that we let Riley do this - but she knows she can't jump on her bed (a twin size) and she knows she can't do it unless we are in the room with her (because that makes it better right?).........Well last night she was jumping on the bed and the phone rang, no biggie, happens all the time, so I turn to hang up the phone just as she starts spinning while jumping and well, then there was a thud and crying...........and I feel like a bad mom.

At first, she didn't move her arm much at all, kinda like she was trying, but it didn't work and I was worried, I was sure that something was broken, and she was crying, and she wanted her daddy who was playing b-ball, and well I did too. Long story short, within a few minutes, she could move her arm, it didn't swell or get any weird bruises, she'll wiggle her fingers, she'll bend her arm, she'll twist her arm, she'll squeeze your hand and while it's not as hard as her "good arm" she'll still do it. She'll let you push around on her arm without any fussing really. But, she doens't really want to put a lot of weight on it, like you know pushing herself up, or carrying something kinda heavy, but I think she's ok.

A part of me wanted to be irrational and rush her to the ER for x-rays. Even though it was 8 o'clock at night and the ER is 30 minutes away and I was pretty sure she was ok. A part of me still wanted to be a little irrational this morning and call the dr's office first thing this morning and get x-rays there, even though she slept fine and will use her arm just fine this morning - but favors it just slightly. A part of me really wishes it was me who fell off the bed and hurt my arm - even though I'm way to big to jump on the bed, but you know what I mean, as a parent you just want to take away the owies!!

This is probably the first time Riley has had a real booboo beyond a skinned knee or a bruise, I was really hoping we could make it to like 16 or something, you know, guess not. Hopefully my girl will feel better and better as the day goes on and by tomorrow or the next day she'll be all better.

And guess what - we're probably going to be "officially too big to jump on the bed anymore" at our house. Not only because of the booboo, but because I realize it was kinda silly that we've let her do it this long - even if we did have "rules" that made it safer and all.

More Riley Sayings

Since I've been a very bad poster lately - even though I think MORNING sickness that lasts all day every day is a very good excuse - I feel like I've been missing a lot, there are so many cute things that Riley has done and said........and I've been a slacker and haven't told you about them so someday when Riley is 30 and reading back about her life she'll think man, what was up with my Mom from Dec 08 thru Mar 09, didn't I do anything cute.......sigh.

So here are some fun things Riley has said lately that I just can't miss posting

*Mom, can I have some of that hanzitizer spray
(hand sanitizer spray)

*Mom, when I turn 4 I can drive myself, you won't have to bring me to Vickie's anymore
(this was when we were pulling in to her babysitter's driveway just yesterday, and I realized that I would blink and this would be true for real not true in her mind that she could drive herself at 4, and yes she often times says mom now instead of mommy which makes me sad too)

*Baby, oh baby, baby ba-aa-a-by, your mommy and your sissy are gonna love you always
(this is a song daddy made up for Riley when she was a baby and she's modified it and sings it to my tummy daily, so sweet! The original was Riley oh Riley Riley Jean Graves, your mommy and your daddy are gonna love you always - or grandma and papa or whoever fit for that verse really)

*Oh mom, your tummy is growing and growing everyday

*Mommy, I gotta go potty.......I can do it all by myself, I don't need your help (sniffle)

*Mommy, someone needs to come for a visit, I need a visit tonight

*Mommy, I sure do miss Andy, can we go to his apartment (that's my sis's boyfriend)

*Will Aunt Sarah be home soon?
